Dear Westborough Families and Faculty,
It is almost a year since the pandemic upended all of our lives. It has, and continues to be, an exhausting journey for all of us. Living in this landscape has forged the closest working relationship that parents and teachers have ever shared to support the education of our children. Everyone has been committed to this work and it has yielded some amazing bright spots, while at the same time remaining a difficult and limited experience to what has typically represented a Westborough education.
Now, we will navigate the next steps forward together. The arrival of vaccines, combined with our working knowledge about safe implementation of in-person school, has brought us to the place of new discussions. This is a discussion happening throughout the state, and in many like communities around us. This memo outlines a general roadmap forward in Westborough, to an eventual full in-person return to our schools. It revisits some of the discussion points shared at the recent Westborough TV open forum on February 2nd, as well as the recent planning and discussions happening in varied leadership, union, and committee groups. Today we are also sending families a survey to see how comfortable our families are with returning to in-person learning.
