Hello Ranger Nation!
COVID-19 has interrupted our lives in ways that few of us could have imagined in the time before we left school on Friday, March 13th, 2020.  At that time, all of us in education were at a loss on how to provide the services we love, while keeping students and their families safe. For the first time in months, a clear pathway has been presented that makes planning for a 2020-2021 sports calendar possible. At this time there are still many more questions than answers. However, Athletic Directors, Athletic Trainers, and School Administrators are working tirelessly to create a comprehensive plan that accomplishes the combined goals of offering a robust interscholastic athletic program in addition to maintaining a safe and compliant environment amidst the ongoing pandemic.  The MID WACH League has released the letter linked here to share with our communities and I encourage you to take a moment to read it.
Please remember, these are ever changing times, so while this is the plan for now, we may see more changes.

Here is the information that we know as of now:

  • The traditional Fall athletics season has been split into two seasons for the 2020-21 academic year.
  • The Fall 1 season will be held from September 18th (first day of tryout/practices) through November 20th. During this season we will host the following sports to be played modified competitive seasons: Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Boys Golf, and Field Hockey
    • We will play these modified seasons against the same 5-6 schools in a pod for all sports. Teams will not be allowed to play outside of the geographic pod.
    • Sports will be played with the appropriate modifications determined by the EEA/DESE/MIAA.
  • The Fall 2 season will be held from February 22nd through April 25th. This season will include the sports of football, volleyball, and cheerleading.
    • We will play these modified seasons against the same 5-6 schools in a pod for all sports. Teams will not be allowed to play outside of the geographic pod.
    • These sports will be allowed to hold a number of practices during the Fall 1 season that will focus on player skill development.
    • Sports will be played with the appropriate modifications determined by the EEA/DESE/MIAA.
  • Registration for all Fall sports will be online from August 31st-September 13th. A separate email will be sent next week with the registration information.
  • Students in the WSRLP will be able to play on our teams.
  • The District is looking into the potential of being able to provide transportation to students whose cohort is learning at home on a given day. Please look out for more information about this.
  • There are still plenty more details that we will be providing you as they develop.
  • One very important piece of information in all of this is that we will still require in person physicals (telehealth physicals are not going to be accepted) for all students that are participating in any athletics this year. Please see the information linked here from the State regarding this requirement.

Thank you for your continued patience as we continue as a community to navigate these uncertain times.
